Calling all Businesses!
It is now
your responsibility to ensure your business meets Fire Safety criteria set by government legislation. You will be penalised if you don’t have correct procedures and documentation in place.

Fire Risk Assessment is the systematic look at potential sources of fire in the workplace, the dangers that fire poses to those who use the workplace and how the risk and spread of fire can be minimised. Once the required risks have been identified the changes must be implemented.

  • All employers or people who have control of any premises must conduct a fire safety risk assessment and act on the significant findings arising from it. Regardless of how many people are employed.
  • If you employ 5 or more people, your premises are licensed or you have persons especially at risk, you will need to keep a written record in the form of an fire safety risk assessment report.
  • The Fire Brigade actively enforce the regulations through ad hoc inspections.

Your business premises should already have an FRA in place, but now the Fire Service will use the new legislation as a reason to knock on your door and check you have one. The risk assessment should consider the safety of all employees and anyone else who is legally on, in or around your premises.

Your assessment must have a review every 12 months as usual.
